2026 Expeditions Launch with Dr Cat Burford

The Oxford Arctic Centennial Expeditions Team and Exeter College of the University of Oxford hosted Dr Cat Burford on Sunday, 23 November 2025 for an exclusive black-tie guest night in the Exeter College Hall to celebrate the launch of the 2026 Arctic Expeditions.

Dr Cat Burford is the 13th woman to ski 708 miles solo and unsupported to the South Pole. She is passionate about using adventurous journeys to inspire, challenge stereotypes, and highlight both the urgent realities of climate change and the hidden barriers that still exist for women in polar exploration. During the night, Cat shared personal insights into her ski journey across Antarctica to the South Pole and her upcoming traverse of Svalbard.

All profits from dinner tickets went to funding three student-led Arctic research teams conducting fieldwork in Svalbard, Greenland, and Iceland in 2026.
