Cryospheric Hydrology & Surface Modelling (CHASM-X)

​Conduct reconnaissance expeditions with the intent of testing sampling methodologies and identifying future sample sites and methods to be used in the 2027 Centennial Arctic Expedition. The 2026 Expedition will serve as an opportunity to gather initial data to test against while also practicing expedition skills in advance of the longer 2027 Expedition which will combine modern science and exploration with the history of past Oxford expeditions by retracing the routes taken by our predecessors. In doing this we will tell the story of the changes taking place in the Arctic, to help inform the public about how this great landscape has changed over the past century, and to better understand where it may be going in the near future.
