The Team
The Foundation Expedition Team includes four OUEC Committee members, three of whom have served as OUEC Chairpersons. Together, we have over two decades of scientific, exploration, and outdoor experience. The leadership of the 2026 and 2027 expeditions will be divided among the foundation members, with the option for co-leading. Vacancies have been left in the team composition in order to welcome host country partners for collaboration and co-creation.

2025 FOUNDATIONS EXPEDITION
The 2025 Foundations Expedition by the Oxford University Exploration Club begins a three-year Arctic exploration plan, culminating in the 2027 Centenary Expeditions. Six participants, future Reconnaissance & Centenary Expedition team members, conducted anthropological research on identity-creation and fieldwork on icy moon analogues & aquatic microorganisms. This groundwork leads to the 2026 Reconnaissance Expeditions to Norway, Greenland, and Iceland, and the 2027 Centenary Expeditions, combining historical retracing with innovative research.

2026 RECONNAISSANCE EXPEDITIONS
In 2026 , the Reconnaissance Expeditions will focus on three strategic locations: Norway, Greenland, and Iceland. These expeditions will have smaller teams tasked with conducting site assessments, refining logistical plans, and initiating preliminary scientific research. This phase is crucial for understanding the environmental and logistical challenges specific to each region, ensuring the success of the larger Centenary Expeditions. Reconnaissance teams will collect data on conditions and scout key sites for the final year.
